Martha’s Vineyard hosts some of Nashville’s finest songwriters and artists from Sept. 11 to 14, when New England to Nashville (NETN) presents the fourth annual Martha’s Vineyard Songwriting Festival.

The festival kicks off with a concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, which will include performances by contemporary hit writers Jim McCormick, Jason Blume, Jay Knowles, Marty Dodson and Clay Mills. The lineup of musicians has penned hits for artists including Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Billy Currington, Carrie Underwood, Tricia Yearwood, Little Big Town, George Strait, Rodney Atkins and David Nail.

They will be joined by emerging artists Lance Carpenter, The Wheeler Sisters, Sammy Arriaga, Casey Derhak, Morgan Myles, Jesse Terry, Jason Gregory and festival co-hosts Jilly Martin and Tyler Barham. A concert on Saturday, Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m. at Flatbread Pizza in Edgartown will feature the same lineup.

The festival will also offer a weekend workshop in West Tisbury focusing on both the art and business of commercial songwriting, and featuring four master classes and constructive critiques of participants’ songs by songwriter/music publisher/best selling author Jason Blume, as well as instruction by Jim McCormick, Marty Dodson and Clay Mills.

Workshop attendees are invited to a casual barbecue and guitar pull on Friday, Sept. 12, in West Tisbury, where they will have the opportunity to meet established and emerging artists.

A portion of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to Alex’s Place. For a full schedule of the weekend workshop as well as workshop registration and tickets to shows, visit marthasvineyardsongwritingfest.com.
